Complete Streets passes the House

Contact Senator Munzlinger! Complete Streets, which mandates that the needs of ALL road users be considered when a road is being built or maintained, has passed the Missouri House.

Last year we considered it a huge victory that Complete Streets made it to a vote at all--even though it didn't pass. In previous years it had been killed in committee.

But will it pass the Senate? Let's help it get there! Call or write Senator Brian Munzlinger and ask him to support HCR 23 when it comes to the Senate. Remind him that this is a bipartisan issue-- bicycling and walking has seen support from both sides, including Peter Kinder and Jay Nixon.

MoBikeFed has drafted a sample letter for you to use:

Dear Senator Munzlinger,

Please support HCR 23, the Complete Streets Resolution. The resolution, developed over several years of negotation among state legislators, MoDOT, and the Missouri Bicycle and Pedestrian Federation, encourages cities, counties, agencies, and planning organization who build and maintain roads to include accommodations for people who bicycle, walk, and use transit, as well as young, old, and disabled people, whenever they build or maintain our roads and transportation system.

[Include a brief personal story or experience about why bicycling & walking is important to you.]
