Campaign for Safer Boundary Road/Highway H

The campaign for safer Boundary/ Highway H seeks the cooperation of city and state officials to find a real solution to the problem of high speed, high volume motor vehicle traffic on a narrow road that is frequently used by cyclists and pedestrians.

Shoulders on Boundary?

How does MoDOT decide which roads get shoulders? That is the job of the Regional Planning Commission. For us, it's the Northeast Regional Planning Commission, located in Memphis, MO. Citizens like you can provide input in the process. Call NE RPC transportation contact Kathie Small at (660) 465-7281, and let her know that you use Boundary for running, walking or cycling and it should have shoulders and bike lanes!

Kirksville Daily Express

The Kirksville Daily Express covered the speed limit on Boundary.

Federal transportation rescission

In the latest budget deal between the Republicans and Democrats, the two parties agreed to rescind (read: take back) $2.5 billion in unspent federal transportation funds. Your state DOT has the power to decide which funds they send back. And based upon history we know what happens next.

MoDOT may try to empty out the funds that pay for your sidewalks, bike lanes, trails, and education programs.

Mayor Detweiler

Check out the Truman Index article about the new mayor. "[Mayor] Detweiler said his four main objectives as mayor will be to ..., work with Kirksville Area Motion to create more resources for walkers and bicyclists and ..." We're one of his top four!

Detweiler said he is concerned with the lack of resources for bicyclists and walkers to get around.
