1. I called each of our city council candidates and talked with them about biking and walking in Kirksville. I posted a quick summary of these conversations.

In the past I have been frustrated trying to find information about candidates and I have had no idea how to figure out who to vote for. If you have felt that way, I encourage you to pick up the phone and call. (Let me know if you'd like the candidates' contact info. I got it from the City.)

2. Your calls and letters to Senator Blunt and Senator McCaskill did the trick! Senators reported more letters and calls about bike/ped than any other issue in the transportation bill. The bike/ped programs, Safe Routes to School, Transportation Enhancements, and Recreational Trails Program, were added back into the Senate Transportation bill (MAP-21) which passed last week.

The House still has to pass a bill, so keep an eye out for more advocacy alerts.
